About Global Squirrels
Global Squirrels is an Employer of Record (EOR) platform and staffing services company that enables businesses to hire, pay, and manage talent across international borders — handling payroll, tax compliance, and legal complexity so our clients can focus on growth. We also offer specialized tech staffing services and are recognized as an approved contingent workforce supplier for Google. We're a fast-paced, lean team, which means every person here has real ownership and real impact.
About the Role
We're looking for a QA Tester to join our team and help ensure the reliability, functionality, and quality of the Global Squirrels platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who is proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable operating with a high degree of independence once ramped up. Because we move fast and ship often, this role includes availability for production deployments over weekends on a rotating or as-needed basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow quickly, take real ownership of quality across a live platform, and work closely with a lean, high-trust product team.
Key Responsibilities
Design, write, and execute manual and/or automated test cases for new features and existing functionality across the Global Squirrels platform
Perform functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing across web application(s)
Identify, document, and track bugs clearly and thoroughly using our issue-tracking tools
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and clarify acceptance criteria
Validate fixes and verify releases before and after deployment
Participate in and support production deployments, including weekend releases, to test and validate changes in real time
Proactively identify gaps in test coverage and suggest improvements to testing processes
Help build and maintain test documentation, test plans, and (where applicable) automated test scripts
Escalate critical issues quickly and communicate status clearly to the team
Take ownership of assigned testing areas with minimal oversight after the initial onboarding period
What We're Looking For
Prior experience in software testing/QA (manual and/or automated) — 2 years
Strong attention to detail and a genuine curiosity about how systems work and where they break
A proactive, self-starter mindset — someone who asks questions early, then runs independently
Ability to ramp up quickly: The expectation is to operate independently within a few weeks of starting
Comfort working in a fast-paced, lean team environment where priorities can shift and ownership matters
Willingness and availability to support production releases over weekends as needed
Strong written communication skills for clear bug reports and cross-team collaboration
Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar)
Familiarity with basic QA concepts: test case design, regression testing, release validation, etc.
Nice to Have
Experience testing SaaS, HR tech, payroll, or fintech platforms
Exposure to automated testing tools/frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman/API testing, etc.)
Basic understanding of SQL for data validation
Experience working directly with onsite and remote team.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first few weeks, ramps up on the platform, our workflows, and tools with minimal repeated guidance
Becomes a trusted, independent owner of testing for assigned features/areas
Reliably shows up for and adds value during production deployments
Catches issues before they reach customers and communicates them clearly and fast
Takes initiative to improve testing coverage and processes over time.
